LINCOLN, NEBRASKA (WKZO) — Michigan State fans now know how Wolverine fans felt the 2-weeks before, after a controversial touchdown to Nebraska in Lincoln in the final minute ruined their perfect season.
The heartbreaking 39 to 38-loss has probably taken the 7th ranked Spartans out of contention for the National Championship.
Cornhusker QB Tommy Armstrong Junior hit Brandon Reilly for a 30-yard touchdown pass in the waning seconds of the game. It was reviewed because Reilly stepped out of bounds before catching the ball.
The refs determined that the defensive back pushed Reilly out, giving Nebraska the win.
Connor Cook threw for 335 yards and four touchdowns in the season altering loss for the seventh ranked MSU, which fell to 8-and-1.
Aaron Burbridge caught a touchdown, and MacGarrett Kings Junior caught two for the Spartans.
It was just two weeks before that a fumbled punt gave the Spartans that last second win over Michigan.
The fates of football can be cruel.
