KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan University will be sharing a $500,000 allocation to prevent sexual assaults among college students.
The visit and the money are both part of a campaign that First Lady of Michigan Sue Snyder is backing.
Thirty-three applicants were requesting $1.6 million for programs. 23 of the applications have been approved, although many at lower dollar figures than was requested.
Western Michigan University will receive $25,000. Kalamazoo Valley Community College will get $13,400.
Snyder is scheduled to be at WMU’s Sangren Hall on Monday at 7 p.m. and will be introducing experts on the subject to discuss sexual assault prevention on campus.
