KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan finished essentially unchanged last week, after prices jumped as much as 30 cents in some parts of the state over the weekend .
“We’re looking at about $2.35 a gallon, which is about the same price as last week,” AAA of Michigan spokesperson Susan Hiltz said. “But, compared to last year, we are 62 cents less.”
Hiltz remains optimistic that cheap oil will push gas prices lower to end the year.
“Across the nation, there are many states that are seeing gas prices below $2 a gallon,” Hiltz said. “We’re hoping Michigan becomes part of that club.
Gas is selling for about $2.46 in Kalamazoo, according to GasBuddy.com.
