COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A van was destroyed by a Amtrak train Saturday in Comstock Township.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies say Amanda Davis was eastbound on Michigan Avenue just after 9 p.m. when she misjudged the road near Leenhouts Street, left the pavement and crashed onto the train tracks, leaving the van stuck on the tracks.
Davis, her boyfriend and four year old daughter got out when they heard a train coming and watched as the train struck the vehicle at about 75 mph, turning it into scrap metal.
There were no injuries among the 59 passengers or the crew on board the Wolverine Line, which was making its return run from Chicago to Pontiac.
Davis was cited for a moving violation.
