GALESBURG (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County authorities have released the name of a 71-year-old from Galesburg who was killed Monday evening when his car went off M-96 and struck a tree.
Evidence from the scene suggests Pete Peterson, who lived nearby, never attempted to stop before striking that tree. That suggests either he was distracted, suffering a medical issue or asleep at the wheel.
Peterson wrecked his car before 7 p.m. Monday. He was extracted from the vehicle, but couldn’t be revived.
Autopsy results have not yet been released.
