BARRY COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — Michigan State Police say a man is hospitalized after suffering a severe self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left arm while stepping out of a kayak.
Police in Barry County say they were called about the incident at Rutland Charter Township’s Otis Lake at around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The victim was taken out of the area by helicopter.
Investigators say the man was hunting and fired the round as he was making his way into a duck blind.
Authorities are investigating the shooting.
