KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Officers with Kalamazoo Public Safety are looking for two people who fled a house fire that was triggered by the explosion of a methamphetamine lab.
The device let loose in a bathroom on the first floor of the home in the 3000 block of South Burdick Street. Responding officers were able to contain most of the damage to the bathroom.
PSOs immediately put their fire helmets back in their trunks and changed their focus to a drug investigation, obtaining a warrant to search the place. Inside the home, officers found components to make the drug, the drug itself and a stolen handgun.
Investigators know the identity of the two people who fled the fire. No arrests have been made so far, but warrants will likely be sought.
Anyone who may have information regarding this investigation is asked to call Kalamazoo Public Safety at (269) 337-8994 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
