WATERFORD TWP., MI (WHTC) – The 32-year-old son of state School Superintendent Brian Whiston died in a multi-vehicle pileup this morning in the northern Detroit suburb of Waterford Township. Ryan Whiston was the eldest of Brian and Beth Whiston’s four children when he was killed in a crash while heading to his work. No other details of the accident were immediately available, with funeral arrangements pending. A long-time school chief in Dearborn, Brian Whiston was named the state’s top educator in March in advance of the June retirement of Mike Flanagan.
