LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Michigan has been awarded nearly $1 million to develop a plan to help residents struggling with behavioral health problems.
Jennifer Eisner with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the money will be put toward figuring out standards for hypothetical clinics that would deal with mental health and wellness, substance abuse, anxiety and depression.
“We were one of 24 states selected to develop this plan,” Eisner said. “And what it’s aimed to do is set up criteria for these community behavioral health clinics.”
Eisner says, if federal officials like what they see, Michigan could be one of eight states selected for implementation.
