CASS COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A man is being held in the Cass County Jail after leading police on a chase from Indiana into Michigan.
Indiana police agencies handed off pursuit to Cass County Sheriff’s deputies, but not before taking out one of the man’s tires. Deputies were able to follow the suspect’s trail because his rim was leaving a groove in the roadway.
The road damage spanned through Calvin Township into Jefferson Township, where they found the car abandoned by the side of North Shore Drive. The man was spotted running through the woods.
The 28-year-old from Elkhart, Ind., was chased down, and officers discovered methamphetamine, heroin and a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his possession. He will likely face drug and gun charges this week.
