LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Sheriff’s deputies in Van Buren County are looking for a person who broke into a home of a local business owner and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
It happened just after 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Investigators say the thief first used a pool ladder to cut the cables of a security camera at the home on 60th Avenue near 54th Street in Lawrence Township. The person then broke a window, grabbed a cash register drawer inside the residence and fled the scene on foot.
Deputies were unable to track the person with police dogs. It’s believed the thief then fled the scene in a vehicle waiting nearby.
The homeowner’s son and wife were both home at the time.
