DETROIT (WKZO-AM) — AAA of Michigan says the statewide average price for a gallon of regular gas is lower this week.
“We’re looking at Michigan at $2.46 a gallon,” auto club spokesperson Susan Hiltz said. “That’s about six cents than last week, and about 68 cents compared to the same time last year.”
Hiltz said the transition to cheaper winter-blend fuel put downward pressure on prices for the first time in four weeks, but also said refinery maintenance will likely cause another jump in the not-too-distant future.
“A lot more people were driving over the summer, so that was a little bit more taxing on the refineries,” Hiltz said. “It’s just a double-edged sword, sometimes.”
Traverse City has the lowest average gas price at $2.38. The highest price is $2.52 in Marquette.
