BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police say at least 38 guns have been stolen from the home of a 67-year-old Battle Creek stroke victim.
The man reported the thefts from his North 23rd Street residence with the help of his guardian Wednesday, saying he noticed the guns disappearing from throughout his often-unlocked home over the past nine months.
He told detectives several of the firearms were military issue. The collection had a total value of over $22,000.
Age and origin of the weapons ranged widely. Some were a few years old, while others were made in the 1800s. Some were American, while others came from Europe, China and Russia.
Detectives questioned a 19-year-old woman who visited the home, but she also wasn’t sure as to where the guns may have gone.
The case remains under investigation.
