PLAINWELL (WKZO-AM) — Cindy Gamrat appeared with seven other candidates in an 80th district candidate forum in Plainwell, trying to regain the seat she was expelled from just last month.
Gamrat at the Lake Doster Country Club in Plainwell attempted to convince voters that she did not deserve to be booted out of the House.
“I have never quit on the people of Allegan County,” Gamrat said.
But recent polling seen suggests that, while she has very high name recognition in the district, she has some of the lowest favorability numbers pollsters have ever seen.
That sentiment was reflected in the audience last night.
“I think she’s done, and let’s move on,” one attendee said.
“After what she’s been through, I don’t think she can represent our district effectively,” another attendee noted.
The winner next month will take on retired judge David Gernat, who is the lone Democrat in next May’s race.
