LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Gov. Rick Snyder has signed a bill that would allow drivers to show proof of insurance during a traffic stop by dialing it up on their smartphone.
“It’s nothing mandatory, it just gives drivers another option and hopefully saves some drivers a trip to the court house if they can have it on their phone rather than being forced to have a paper copy on them at all times,” bill sponsor Aric Nesbitt, R-Lawton, said.
The measure also bans officers from searching websites on your smart phone.
