KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The 40-year-old accused of assaulting two Kalamazoo Public Safety officers after harassing a 14-year-old girl is a parole violator and a sex offender, investigators with the agency said.
Roy James Jr. is now in custody after assaulting an officer and initially getting away, despite getting hit by a Taser. He was arrested a day later, after he was found hiding near a vacant home in the 500 block of Terrace Court.
He was confronted there, setting off another foot chase. He would later be subdued.
Officers found a stolen handgun in the spot where he was originally confronted. They also found two Taser probes on the floor of the holding room after he was arrested.
It’s all evidence that has resulted in multiple counts of assaulting officers, gun felonies, stolen property charges, trespassing and a parole violation.
He was added to the sex offender registry after assaulting a similar-aged teenager, investigators said.
The judge ordered him held on $100,000 bond.
