BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — One man has already been convicted for his role in the death of a former biker club president at the Iron Coffin Motorcycle Club on New Year’s Eve in 2012.
Now Calhoun County prosecutors will try again to convict Matthew Starkweather after initially charging him for killing Leeroy Taylor, then having witnesses change their story. He’s currently being held on an open murder charge.
Last month, Mario Borroso was given six to 15 years in prison for a manslaughter plea in a bargain with prosecutors. He will likely be called to be a witness in the Starkweather trial.
The motive was reportedly money that was owed by Taylor.
