KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made after two vehicles traded gunfire in the parking lot of a restaurant just steps away from Kalamazoo Public Safety headquarters.
It happened before noon Friday at Nagle’s Top Dog and Malt Shoppe on South Burdick Street, south of the West Crosstown Parkway.
Witnesses say a newer-model hard-top black Jeep and a gold or possibly tan Chrysler sedan pulled into a parking lot at the corner, along the south side of a business. A black male got out of the car and as he approached the other vehicle, a gun emerged from a Jeep window and bullets started flying.
Then occupants of both vehicles then exchanged fire.
The two vehicles fled, the Jeep speeding north and the Chrysler headed south. By the time officers responded, both vehicles were gone.
Anyone with additional information is asked to call Kalamazoo Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
