KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Enrollment is up once again this year at Kalamazoo Public Schools.
Supt. Michael Rice said they were projecting that enrollment would increase by about a dozen students this year, but the preliminary total is much higher than that.
“We are up 70 in total, we believe” Rice said. “Eighty-two over last year’s enrollment.”
It stands in stark contrast to other public schools in the area that are seeing enrollment declines and are talking about school closures and consolidations.
School officials credit the Kalamazoo Promise for the turnaround.
