LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Governor Snyder has filled a vacancy on the Michigan Supreme Court by appointing U-M Law Professor Joan Larsen to replace Mary Beth Kelly, whose resignation to reenter private practice takes effect tomorrow. Larsen, who lost in a 2012 election for the state’s high court, has past experience as a deputy assistant attorney general in the US Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel and as a law clerk at both the federal appellate and Supreme Court levels. She will need to run for election next November if she wishes to complete the last two years of Kelly’s eight-year term.
