LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Rep. Amanda Price of Park Township says House members are trying to focus on putting together a bill package to fix Michigan roads, but also says other expensive problems are making it difficult for lawmakers to find the money.
“HICA, or health-insurance claims assessment, there’s some money that we need to match the federal government on the Medacaid expansion, and there’s some other issues coming up on the horizon, like Detroit Public Schools,” Price said.
She said Monday that talks over a possible roads package are ongoing, but also said she’s growing frustrated over how little she can tell her constituents in the 82nd district.
“I know exact potholes and exact dips in roads,” Price said. “I know exactly what everybody’s going through.”
It’s estimated the state has to come up with at least $1.2 billion annually to repair and maintain the state’s crumbling roads and bridges.
