GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — A Kalamazoo man who plead guilty in March to child pornography and gun-related charges has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison.
Prosecutors say 44-year-old Michael Downey sent and received the illicit content through an online instant messaging program and attempted to schedule live sex shows from 2012 to 2013.
A search of his Pinehurst Boulevard home in 2014 led to the discovery of an unregistered AR-15 and silencer.
Downey, who is listed as the former president of a Grand Rapids-based security company, will also be forced to register as a sex offender. He will also serve 10 years of supervised release after completing his prison term.
