PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The Portage Department of Public Safety is investigating after a daughter stabbed her father in the back of his left thigh to get his attention.
It happened at the Crossroads Shell on South Westnedge Avenue late Wednesday night.
The 28-year-old woman told police that her dad, who she said was from Detroit and had mental health issues, was strangling her friend. They had been on a trip from Detroit to Chicago to visit relatives when her dad began exhibiting behaviors common to his disorder.
They pulled over, an argument ensued and the 51-year-old began throttling the 20-year-old female.
Police say the knife was small, and the wound wasn’t life-threatening. The man was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital for stitches and a mental health evaluation.
The case remains under investigation.
