NASHVILLE, MICH. (WKZO-AM) — A Nashville man is jailed after police say they found 650,000 child pornography images and approximately 3,000 videos on his computer.
David Heinsen, 69, was arraigned on four counts of criminal sexual conduct on Wednesday, according to the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office. He also faces other county and federal charges.
The prosecutor’s office also claims Heinsen admitted to Nashville Police Chief Chris Koster that he molested an eight-year-old girl with Down’s syndrome in 1989. According to a press release, the child lived next door.
Prosecutors say, after an investigation was launched in July, search warrants served at Heinsen’s residence turned up images, videos and old magazines, showing children of all ages, including toddlers, being abused and tortured.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security was brought in because of the global nature of the crimes, the release said.
The release also said the investigation took a turn when film showing Heinsen abusing and torturing by the eight-year-old was discovered.
Both the prosecutor’s office and police say they’re trying to locate other victims. They’re also contacting authorities in Sandusky, Ohio, where Heinsen previously lived.
