LEROY TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Work on a diesel truck is being blamed for a fire that destroyed a 16-unit storage building on Four Mile Road in Calhoun County’s Leroy Township, just south of Battle Creek.
Investigators say the owner of Tamarack Storage was working on the vehicle when the fire happened at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Six agencies, including the Leroy Township Fire Department, formed a bucket brigade to put the flames out, due in part to the lack of a fire hydrant at the site.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to other buildings. No estimate of damage was released, but there were no injuries.
