KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Unemployment in Kalamazoo was down to 4.8 percent during the second quarter of 2015.
The Upjohn Institute for Employment Research says the local rate was at around five percent to start the year. The non-profit says fractional jobs gains were seen among goods-producing, service, manufacturing and construction industries, while the number of government jobs declined.
Initial claims for unemployment were also down seven percent.
The number of construction permits issued for new homes jumped 19 percent, the group said on Thursday.
