KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A murder suspect who was tracked down in Las Vegas last month has been returned to Kalamazoo to face prosecution.
Witnesses told investigators that 26-year-old George Mack of Kalamazoo had the kind of smothering, abusive and violent relationship with his girlfriend that generated fear in her whole family.
Mack is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail on an open murder charge for the death of Edward Bell, who came to his sister’s rescue when Mack, according to police, came to their North Rose Street home with an assault rifle and opened fire on Aug. 9.
After the shooting, Mack fled to Las Vegas, where he was tracked by U.S. Marshals and arrested.
