LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Former state representative Todd Courser, who had been silent since his departure from the House, came out of hiding Monday.
He went on a mini-media blitz, where he appeared on several shows saying he quit because legislators looked “giddy” as they prepared for a third vote on his expulsion.
He said, seeing the writing on the wall, he decided it was time to go. He told Michael Patrick Shiels that state lawmakers failed to read the select committee’s findings, and also said there was little real evidence used when lawmakers were asked to make a decision on his fate.
“Only a handful of the representatives on the floor actually read the underlying evidence,” he said. “It’s a pretty concerning trend for our democracy.”
Courser continued to insist that he was just a little guilty, and not guilty enough to merit expulsion. He continued, saying the real reason he was ousted was because he didn’t get along with Republican leaders.
