LAWRENCED TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM)– A Van Buren County Deputy who thought a driver was reacting suspiciously, went with the hunch and it paid off.
He pulled up behind a red Sunfire at the stop light at C.R. 681 and Red Arrow Highway, and immediately the car ducked into a gas station at the intersection.
A quick check on the plate turned up information that the car had been stolen in Little Rock, Ark.
A search of the car with the help of a K-9 trained to sniff for intoxicants turned up several suspected drugs including Hydrocondone, heroin and methamphetamine and the gear to ingest those drugs.
The driver, a 36-year-old woman from the Dowagiac area, was arrested for being in possession of a stolen car.
Drug charges against her and her passengers await further investigation and testing.
