LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Democrats are not happy with how the Gamrat-Courser hearings are going, and are renewing calls for the Michigan State Police or Attorney General Bill Schuette to launch criminal investigations.
The pair on the committee were prevented from asking questions of Norm Saari, an aide to Speaker Kevin Cotter.
Democratic House leader Tim Greimel is angry that the aides who worked with Reps. Cindy Gamrat and Todd Courser were not called to testify. They want to know what Cotter knew and when he knew it.
“(It’s) the Republicans’ continued effort to ram this through without bringing all relevant witnesses forward, while trying to obfuscate and obstruct and cover up the speaker office’s involvement in it,” Greimel said.
Any effort to expel either Gamrat or Courser will need Democratic votes to achieve the two-thirds required. If Democrats aren’t happy, they could leave the pair in office, haunting the GOP through the next election cycle.
