KALAMAZOO, MI (WHTC) – The Safe Kids Coalition has issued a list of things that will keep children safer this school year.
Number one on the list is to have the kids take their eyes off the smart phone while crossing the street or they may find it’s a very dumb and dangerous thing to do.
They recommend parents walk their kids to the bus stop and wait until it arrives. If you have a carpool to make sure that each child has a proper restraint, whether it’s a booster or a safety belt.
Parents should inspect playground equipment to make sure its age appropriate, isn’t rusted or broken or has dangerous edges.
Their list also includes a couple of tips for student athletes. First is a pre-participation physical from a doctor, and second is that student athletes stay hydrated during workouts and games.
