BIG MAC (WKZO) – Thousands braved rainy weather to participate in the annual Labor Day Bridge walk over the Mackinac Bridge including Governor Rick Snyder.
Forecasts had predicted storms with lightning, which might have delayed or even scrubbed the event, but the system weakened and held off and the run and walk went off as scheduled.
Even a flotilla of protestors in Kayaks demanding the closure of the Enbridge pipeline under the straights was able to launch their kayaks.
And marathon swimmer Jim Dreyer and 84 other swimmers also held a fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity, swimming the lenghth of the bridge in the water.
