ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC) – An accident in Van Buren County caused injury to one person and a driving citation to another yesterday afternoon. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office released a report stating that at 3:19 PM Sunday afternoon, deputies were sent to the scene of an accident involving two cars.
According to police, a 21-year-old male Mattawan resident was driving his pickup truck southbound near the 62000 block on M-40 Highway in Antwerp Township when he tried to turn left into an area business.
The man failed to yield to oncoming traffic and turned in front a 36-year-old woman from Lawton who was travelling north on M-40. The two cars collided and the women’s passenger, a 36-year-old male, suffered minor injuries as a result.
The passenger was transported to Bronson/Lake View Hospital by Van Buren EMS Ambulance. The man from Mattawan was issued a citation for Failing to Yield. The crash remains under investigation.
