LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The first confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus for this season in Michigan were somewhat disclosed by state Health and Human Services Department officials. They claim that federal law prohibits them from revealing more than that the cases were in Ottawa, Monroe and Macomb counties, thereby putting everybody in Michigan on notice about taking preventative action. The HHS adds that there were positive WNV findings in 57 birds and in 11 mosquito pools statewide.
