LANSING, MI (WHTC) – MIRS News is reporting that House Speaker Kevin Cotter and the GOP majority in the Lower Chamber that he represents are the biggest road blocks to a road funding bill clearing the Legislature. The news agency says that the Governor and the other three members of the lawmaking Quadrant – Arlan Meekhof and Jim Ananich in the Senate and House Minority Leader Tim Grimel – are all in agreement about “the big pieces of a long-term funding plan.” Cotter is against adding new revenue, while the others say that there are not enough items to trim out of the budget for the House plan to work. Lawmakers return from their final summer break next week, and the Quadrant remains optimistic that a billion-dollar-plus annual road plan will be on the Governor’s desk for his signature this fall.
