LANSING, MI (WHTC) – MIRS News is reporting that state Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Rick Jones is looking into shutting down the Michigan Lottery’s online gaming operations. The Grand Ledge Republican, who had once represented Allegan County before redistricting, says that the Gun Lake Tribe’s claim that such gaming violates its compact with the state for seven million dollars in slot machine revenue is the latest evidence supporting this effort. Other tribes with similar compacts may follow suit. The loss of this revenue was cited by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as a major reason behind trimming its 300-member workforce by about a third.
