VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) — A Kalamazoo man is reportedly in critical condition at Bronson’s Trauma Unit after he smashed his car directly into a tree on Red Arrow Highway early Sunday morning.
The name of the 29-year-old has not been released.
Deputies were dispatched Red Arrow just west of 22nd Street at 2:32 a.m.
Accident investigators say for reasons they have not yet determined, the man’s Chevy Cobalt drifted over the centerline, and with no sign of braking left the opposite side of the road and slammed into a tree.
The car overturned, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. He was loaded onto an ambulance and rushed to Kalamazoo.
Alcohol and drug screens are planned.
