VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) — The Homeowner said as thieves go, he wasn’t very bright. The 16-year-old neighbor of a Keeler Township couple is in custody at the Allegan County Youth Detention Center after burglarizing the neighbor’s home twice this summer.
The first time in June, the thief just took food, but it so upsetting for the couple at the 67th Street home that they installed an elaborate video system with multiple views of the home and property.
When the couple left the home Thursday afternoon for two hours and came home to find they had been burgled again, they went straight to the video.
This time the robber took two pistols, two rifles and two shotguns, power tools and 15-hundred rounds of ammunition.
They didn’t recognize the thief but observed he walked to the property. A K-9 was brought in but lost the scent. Then just as the deputies were about to leave…they heard gun fire coming from next door.
It was the teen. He was shooting off the weapons he had just stolen. He was also the thief in their videos.
He was arrested for multiple felonies including home invasion and larceny of Firearms.
