LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A two-week-long House Business Office investigation into the circumstances surrounding the adulterous affair between freshman Republican Representatives Cindy Gamrat of Plainwell and Todd Courser of Lapeer has uncovered “preliminary findings” of misconduct and misuse of taxpayer funds surrounding efforts to cover up the matter. House Speaker Kevin Cotter’s legal counsel will look over the report before any disciplinary action is considered against Gamrat and Courser.
A public summary of the report should be disclosed by the end of the week after an independent reviewer classifies personal information and evidence that could be compromised if revealed at this time. State police is conducting a separate probe to determine if any laws were broken, and a special House committee is also looking into the matter.
Both lawmakers have resisted numerous calls for their resignations thus far.
