LANSING (WKZO) A House Senate Conference Committee will meet after the Quadrant leaders met with the Governor Tuesday, and the House formally rejected the Senate version of the roads bill, to try to take all the pieces and put together a compromise road funding plan.
House Speaker Kevin Cotter has his fingers crossed that the conference committee can come to terms Wednesday so that the House and Senate can vote on it Thursday.
Sources say a plan that combines 600-million in new revenue with 600-million in budget cuts has the inside track. Cotter won’t confirm that.
The key will be cobbling together the votes to pass it. That may involve giving Democrats the assurances that schools and social services won’t be cut and other concessions.
