KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The Blue Ribbon panel looking for solutions to Kalamazoo’s long term money problems have narrowed their list of possible options to the eight that seem most feasible and can be done locally.
They have appointed a subcommittee to explore others that may take state action to implement.
Their next meeting has been cancelled to allow time for that research and because it was scheduled for the day after Labor Day.
Among the eight ideas; special assessment districts, an income tax, selling off properties, a Headlee override and others.
It now looks like a report and recommendations may not be forthcoming from the group until early next year.
