LAPEER (WKZO) — State Rep. Todd Courser has gone public again, this time in a post on his facebook page that acknowledges that he has become an example of a Christian hypocrite, “a liar, a laughable joke” and that much of it is justifiable.
The post, which is part confession and part Sunday school lesson talks about being a Christian and cites various biblical quotes to make his points that the faith shouldn’t be blamed for his failings.
He says he has gotten some support and suffered what he calls “piling on” by critics who condemn his actions and are not ready to forgive, and are not always polite about how they express that criticism.
He particularly asks that all the blame be directed his way, and not at his wife and children, who have apparently been caught in some of the cross-fire and he says do not deserve criticism.
It has a very different tone than the rambling tape he issued early last week, in which he claimed to be persecuted and the target of conspiracies.
In that tape he also refused to resign, saying that would hand a victory to those in the “Lansing Mafia” who try to control the votes and opinions of majority lawmakers to serve the “Establishment” to the detriment of righteous citizens.
There are no such claims in this latest statement, but no indication that he plans to resign either.
The House may be scheduled this week to take a vote on a road funding compromise, if one is ready. If not the sessions may be cancelled. The investigation by the House Business office isn’t expected to be complete until late this week.
