GRAND HAVEN (WKZO) — A man who allegedly set fire to the place where he was staying in Oceana County and then launched a one man assault on the Coast Guard Station in Grand Haven last February, has been allowed to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
Matthew Krueger of Illinois called ahead, claiming he had a bomb in his truck and was headed for the Coast Guard Station.
There was no bomb, and when he slammed into the front gate, damaging it and disabling his truck, he was taken into custody.
He will be sent to the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ann Arbor for 60 days, and a determination will be made then whether he requires additional treatment.
He faces separate prosecution for the fire in Oceana County.
