Schuette Sends Letter, Issues Warning in Wake of Whiting Refinery Shutdown

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Although not responding to a call by state Senator John Proos (R-St. Joseph) to begin an investigation into possible gas price gouging in the wake of the Whiting, Indiana refinery outage, Attorney General Bill Schuette has issued a warning that his office “won’t tolerate any unscrupulous behavior that violates Michigan law when it comes to gouging and price fixing.” Schuette has sent a letter to refinery owner BP and other major petroleum companies outlining “a need for transparency in the case of an outage.”
