LANSING (WKZO) — The Michigan Film office has been stripped of its incentive grants in future budgets but apparently there is still some money left.
The M.F.O. has just announced they have approved a 7-million dollar incentive for the film version of the novel, “Looking for Alaska”, which has a 21-million dollar budget.
Principal filming will take place this fall for the Paramount film. Locations have not yet been identified. The film is expected to have a cast of over 300, 2/3rds of them local hires with over 17-hundred extras employed.
SPOILER ALERT: Oh, by the way, the Alaska being sought is a person not the state.
The deal was reached before the legislation ending the incentives was passed. The MFO is no longer accepting applications for new projects.
