ALLEGAN (WKZO) — A freshman state representative is planning to introduce a bill refusing federal funding given to the state for Planned Parenthood.
Republican Cindy Gamrat of Plainwell admits she’s not sure if it’s possible to do what she wants, but says there is a fear in Lansing of refusing federal money for any reason.
Gamrat says she’s disgusted by the undercover videos that have been released in recent weeks accusing Planned Parenthood of selling fetal tissue.
Planned Parenthood says the videos have been heavily edited and are part of a smear campaign.
Lawmakers say the federal money they pass through to Planned Parenthood comes as part of a package, and funds an array of much needed cancer screening and other services. Abortion is excluded.
