KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — A suspected drunk driver created a flood when he lost control of his Pontiac G-6 and sheared off a fire hydrant at the intersection of Ravine Road and Winding Way.
The car rolled over and went down an embankment.
It caused a temporary loss of water to homes in the area and soil erosion in the yards and driveways of two homes.
About 35-hundred gallons a minute were flowing out of the hydrant.
Blood tests are being conducted, the driver is being held in jail, and two passengers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The water has since been restored to area customers. .
