PORTAGE (WKZO) — A fire that broke out at about 1 this morning in the bedroom of a home in the 14-hundred block of Jonathan has left the family that lived their looking for temporary shelter.
Fire units were able to contain the fire in that bedroom but there was extensive smoke damage through the rest of the home.
They estimate the damage at around 40-thousand dollars.
The Red Cross was called upon to assist the family until they can get back on their feet.
The fire marshal is investigating but they say it appears to be accidental.
