KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Two more handguns have been taken off the streets of Kalamazoo.
Public Safety set up a surveillance near the Interfaith Apartments after separate reports of shots fired.
At about 1:30 Thursday morning, a man came out of an apartment, fired off several rounds in a Parking Lot from a handgun.
Officers moved in to make the arrest and the suspect fled into a nearby apartment.
They recovered a .45-caliber handgun and arrested the 22-year-old and booked him in the Kalamazoo County Jail for Reckless Discharge.
40-minutes later, there were reports of shots fired outside the AFB Bar on South Howard St.
Officers were flagged down and given a description of the Gunman’s car. They found it on W. Michigan Avenue and made a traffic stop.
They found a .40 caliber handgun and spent casing in the car.
The 26-year-old driver from portage was arrested for drunk driving, possession of a gun while drunk and he may also be charged with reckless discharge.
He is also spending some time at the County Jail.
