WAYLAND (WKZO) — Michigan State Police have revealed the name of a man who died in a head-on collision near Wayland, but they still don’t know why it happened or who to blame.
They say it appears that Francisco Medina was westbound on 142nd Avenue when for some reason, his car crossed the centerline and his car veered into the path of an oncoming Pick-up truck.
The 50-year-old Medina was dead at the scene of the 4 pm crash.
The pick-up driver, 57-year-old Keith Salas of Wayland was hospitalized but is expected to recover.
They are trying to determine why Medina left his lane but unless they can show he was distracted by his phone, or suffered a medical condition, they may never really know.
